Today, our kitchen is the most valued space in our home. It’s where we cook, where we gather, where we work, and where we entertain. How can one room accommodate all of these activities and still maintain organization? Many times it cannot. If you are looking around your kitchen and wondering how you can simplify, organize, and just generally better utilize your treasured kitchen space, keep reading! Below are quick ideas to change and improve your space.
The thought that ‘everything has a place’ is NOT overrated. If all “things” in your kitchen can be put into a particular place at any time, you will find much more pleasure in maintaining organization. Go through your space and decide what is important enough to keep and find a ‘spot’ for and what is not and should be recycled or tossed. Get creative! You don’t have to spend a fortune to bring peace and harmony to your kitchen. This picture from Pinterest shows a shoe holder being used as a spice rack. Brilliant!
ONE… Throw away all old plastic containers, especially those without matching lids! Seriously! Some will find that just doing this one step frees up several drawers and cabinets. This a a quick, easy way to organize the space. Look at this picture below. Wouldn’t it be nice to reach in and get exactly what you’re looking for without the chaos of searching unmatched containers?
TWO… go through all of your appliances. When was the last time you made juice in that juicer or made homemade waffles in that waffle maker? If it’s been over a year, toss it! Appliances take up so much space and if one is not being used, make room for something more valuable and useful in your overused kitchen!
THREE… declutter your electronics! Cabinet companies, like Masterbrand, are getting so creative with charging stations and cord organizers. You no longer have to deal with those unsightly, tangled cords or cords sitting in your prep and cooking areas! Go to Pinterest and Houzz for some great DIY ideas on how to hide those jumbled technology bundles or call your cabinet dealer and ask for their latest cabinet design features.
