You’ve been daydreaming about overhauling your bath or kitchen for months now—gutting your cramped cabinets, removing your scratched countertops, and replacing your old-fashioned sink and faucet. You’d prefer an updated look, perhaps a country-modern kitchen or a contemporary bathroom.
You may have a vision of that perfect new room, but need someone to translate your ideas into building guidelines, sketches and blueprints. The right Bath & Kitchen professionals will help you explore the possibilities, turning your dream room into a beautiful reality.
From designing the room’s interiors to modifying the space’s structure, there are a variety of ways in which Bath & Kitchen professionals can help you achieve your ideal bathroom or kitchen.
Depending on the scope of your project, you may utilize one or more of the following professional services. You may also find some firms that offer multiple services under one roof.
Whether you’re renovating your bathroom or kitchen or just replacing a couple of fixtures, a Bath & Kitchen Showroom Consultant works with you to select the right products for your needs. Once you’ve determined your project’s budget, gathered floor plans and measurements, and aggregated your design inspirations, it’s time to schedule a Showroom Consultation.
Showroom Consultants have an in-depth knowledge of Bath & Kitchen products and styles. They’ll advise you on what kind of products best suit the look you’re going for and if you need any additional components (e.g., a rough-in valve for a shower mixing valve). If you have any special considerations, such as water-conserving faucets or universally accessible cabinets, your Showroom Consultant will address these during your Showroom Consultation.
Certified Bath & Kitchen Designers have undergone educational and professional training to create a beautiful room that suits its purpose. They oversee the details of harmonious space management, such as the type of lighting, fixtures, cabinets, hardware, finishes, and materials. Designers interview the client to learn how the room is used and what the needs are of the homeowners, using this information to re-organize the space.
Bath & Kitchen Designers are familiar with planning guidelines, using their knowledge and experience to help you make the most of your interior space. They may also create design renderings for your project. If you’re overhauling your bath or kitchen, or are creating a new addition to the house, you may want to consider hiring a Bath & Kitchen Designer.
Similarly to designers, architects work with you to help make the most of your space. The difference between a designer and an architect is that the designer is primarily concerned with the finishing details of an existing space, whereas the architect focuses on the structure. Thus, an architect may modify the walls, ceilings, and other structural components.
If you’re planning to add a room to your house or modify your room’s structure, you may want to consult with an architect regarding structural designs and construction drawings.

A Building/Remodeling Contractor oversees the construction of a newly built or remodeled space. They manage your project, coordinating the various Bath & Kitchen professionals to ensure they seamlessly work together. If you have a designer/architect on board for your project, the Building/Remodeling Contractor will work with their drawings to build or remodel the room. Some Building/Remodeling Contractors will have designers and architects on-staff.
It is recommended that you hire a Building/Remodeling Contractor if you are planning to completely renovate an existing room or add a new room to your house. For replacements or smaller projects, a Building/Remodeling Contractor may not be necessary.
