This week’s blog is going to focus on the latest finish to market…satin bronze. And you thought that bronze was a thing of the past? It’s BACK!
As the styles for homes shift from earth tones into the cooler whites and grays, this new satin bronze finish is a sure fire way to warm things up, a little at a time. For so many years, people were choosing warm colors for floors, furniture, fabrics, and paint. (see pic to the left) With this trend, we saw mainly chrome finishes, polished and brushed, on faucets, drains and even bathroom accessories. Today, cooler colors are being chosen inside our homes: white cabinets, white and gray marble tile, and white & gray counter tops. (Check out our HOME page for the updated photos showing these great new finishes) To warm these finishes up and create an outstanding accent, we see people choosing this new satin bronze.
“Bronze and brass finishes have returned to decorative plumbing and hardware as a fresh look for traditional and transitional interiors” say the folks from Infinity Drain. “…this finish provides a cohesive look between bath fixtures, hardware, and the shower drain. This finish is achieved by applying a clear tinted powder coat to the stainless steel… this provides a consistent finish throughout the life of the product and supreme durability.”
This just in from a local blogger: “Yellow’s a great color for kitchens because it’s been shown to increase metabolism, and it can also bring a lot of cheer to any room. But it might be overwhelming if you make an entire room that color! Gold is a bit more subdued, and it connotes more luxury and ‘high-end’ feeling. Again, though, a whole room of gold would be very bright (not to mention expensive!).
…instead of making an entire room in those colors, bring a little touch of it in by choosing yellow- or gold-tinted hardware finishes. While it’s not necessarily been in vogue recently, Polished Brass was a staple of the kitchen industry for years, and Antique Brass is a more subdued look that combines the antiquing effect of brown (a soothing, earthy tone) with brass’ golden hue.” That’s exactly what I’m talking about!
Ok, back to the drains. Still unsure that this finish is for you? Maybe think about just doing the drain to start. This would be a great place to subtly add this finish without the overwhelmingness of doing ALL of the accessories in satin bronze. Who doesn’t like a little surprise finish?
